Day 13-Salzburg to Budapest and a guest blogger

From today's guest blogger - Rick Granlund

Dear Diary,

White Van, Trains, Bus from the early 80's, Train again, and a nice Mercedes as a cab.  Sounds like a crazy movie title but for us it was just a crazy day.  For those that know me they know that I am a huge Seinfeld fan, and even during my normal school day I have a George, Elaine, and Kramer in my life.  Today was truly a potential Seinfeld on vacation episode.  There was a "break in the line" whatever that means, which interrupted our first class train seats with a 45 minute bus ride...on a bus that had B.O. and should only be used to haul chicken crates to market; or possibly as a traveling cock fighting arena.  However, all is well.  Our hotel room is the nicest I have seen, let alone stayed in.  The Gold Member only reception area that my room key gets us into is a special place that I will remember fondly.  The city is beautiful with history, but tired looking in upkeep. They need a historical society with time and lots of money.  Very happy to be here and feel lucky to see it all. Looking forward to Franz Liszt and Bela Bartok history and museums tomorrow.     Enjoy the pictures from today.

Salzburg train station

It's here!

"Why do we have to get off in this town?  This isn't Budapest."

Disgruntled passengers moving all of their luggage to the bus

Check out the awesome color scheme...hot pink and blue!

This is not Austria!

Follow that bus!

Are we there yet?

Um, the track looks just fine to me!  I don't see a break anywhere.
The view from our seat

Evidently it is important to have a satellite
Note the difference in the train we were riding on and the trains in the Budapest station

We are here..finally!

Feeling extremely rich!

Elise, aren't you glad we didn't get this for you as a souvenir?

Admiring the ukuleles from a distance thinking, "Yeah, I could fit that in my suitcase"

Creepy toys

Not sure what fagyi is, but they are maniac for it!

Fagyimania hut

Franz Liszt statue that seems to have seen better days.  He was known for breaking pianos in his day with his forceful playing, maybe they were trying to make some artistic statement about that?
