Day 12-Last cycling day-Strobl to Mondsee

Today we completed our cycling journey by returning to Mondsee.  We left our hotel near Strobl early and rode through St. Gilgen.  The weather was amazing!  Not a cloud in the sky, which made our adventure on the Zwolferhorn cable cars even more beautiful.  Yes, you read that correctly...we went on the cable car up the side of the mountain!

These photos are not quite in order, but it is time for me to go to bed because we have a really early departure for the train station tomorrow morning.  Good-bye Austria, hello Budapest!

Mini version of the church in Mondsee en route to Mondsee

The water is so incredibly clear here!

I love how you can see the duck's feet under the water because it is so clear!

Walking up to the building where you get on the Zwolferhorn cable cars...getting a little nervous!

Herr and Frau Zwolferhorn?

I'm pretty sure this means it is the ladies water closet?

Getting even more nervous

Rick was mad that I took his picture, but I had to have proof that we were in this small contraption!

Um, something is missing in this photo.  I hope these are the only 2 screws missing from this thing!

These people are crazy!

Insane...

However, I really like this photo!

Seriously, if you can walk, you can fly?  I don't think so.  I'm being all daring just riding up to the top and you think I'm going to fly off the side of the mountain strapped to someone else with a small parachute tied to us?  Um, no thanks.

Such a remarkable view.  Notice the snow capped mountains in the distance.
Even the weeds are pretty in Austria (although Rick really doesn't like how much they make him sneeze)!

Even the steps up to the peak made me scared!

These folks were so scared by the ride up the mountain that they decided to walk down.

This is all that is running this thing?

Luckily, it seems as if they take the safety check a little more seriously than the one day that I had to work at Indiana Beach!
Ah, back to the building!

A funeral procession.
Saying goodbye to my trusty steed

  1. Okay - you win - the photos from the cable car were making me dizzy and I was just looking at the photos! This was made more woozying by the fact that I somehow got those photos in full-screen mode and they are very clear photos. Nice job! You are braver than me! Have a great train ride.
